WHAT IS CORTERRA POLYMER?
CORTERRA Polymer is the brand name for PTT Poly Canada’s new PTT polymer introduced for the carpet, textile and plastic markets Note: PTT Poly Canada is a joint venture between Shell Chemicals and SGF Chemie
Both Mohawk and Shaw have determined that unlike carpets manufactured from Nylon that have excellent wear properties but stains very easily, or Polyester that have excellent stain resistance properties but poor resilience; Carpets made from CORTERRA PTT polymers have excellent wear properties (equal or better than nylon) and are extremely stain resistant (equal or better than PET). Infact they are much more durable than regular PET and identical carpets with significantly better wear/resilient properties
Other Benefits Include:
- Most stains come out with hot water. These include stains such as Kool-Aid, hot coffee, wine, mustard, acne medication. Sometimes it may be necessary to add a little detergent.
- CORTERRA carpets dry very quickly even in areas of high humidity.
- Excellent Elastic recovery, Resiliency, Softness, Drape
- Stain resistance to acid based substances
- Does not ‘hold’ static charge
It is estimated that as of 2007 over 40 million square yards of CORTERRA carpets have been manufactured and installed mainly in the Apartments/Multi-family sector. Most impressively -- We have not heard of any complaints!
